“Thousands of athletes and spectators come back to Columbus every year, largely because Arnold has been so loyal to Columbus through the years.” Said Jim Lorimer, co-producer of what is now the world’s largest multi-sport bodybuilding and fitness weekend. “Arnold’s love for Columbus is shared by athletes in many sports.”

Prejudging took place in the wonderful Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium at noon with the Finals following at 7PM. Dexter Jackson was striving for his 3rd victory at this event out of a field of 15 of the world’s greatest bodybuilders. All were striving for the richest prize in bodybuilding, a $130,000 check presented by MD magazine, a $20,000 Audemars Piguet watch, a Tony Nowak jacket and of course the Arnold Classic trophy presented by GNC, plus an on-stage interview for the victor with Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Dexter Jackson had won the Arnold Classic in 2005 and 2006 and was seeking to join Flex Wheeler (1993, 1997, 1998 and 2000) and Jay Cutler (2002, 2003 and 2004) as the only men to win the event more than twice.

At the Finals an elated DEXTER JACKSON did join Jay Cutler as a very worthy 3 time winner of this event. The other competitors were competing for another $194,000 in prize money. PHIL “The Gift” HEATH pushed Dexter all of the way with his superb shape, symmetry and new improved size. However Dexter displayed an overall package of muscle maturity and hardness that proved to be the best on stage this year with Phil not far behind him. Phil took home prize money of $75,000.

The big surprise to many was the 3rd place finish of KAI GREENE who took home $50,000 and a lot more prestige than he has enjoyed from any of his previous pro placings. This man is a real contender. In 4th place with $30,000 it was BRANCH WARREN who also took out the Most Muscular Award and a magnificent Joska Kristall trophy. 5th place and $15,000 went to SILVIO SAMUEL with 6th place and $$10,000 going to GUSTAVO BADELL.
MELVIN ANTHONY received $10,000 for winning the Most Entertaining Posing Award. This was no surprise although Kai Greene gave him a real contest!

In the PREJUDGING Disc #1 we include every single comparison from all 15 competitors, shot from our central front camera in the press pit. This is the view that head judge JIM ROCKELL would have received.

In the FINALS Disc #2 you will see the exciting opening of the show, then all 15 athletes perform their complete posing routines through to top 6 posedown and awards. See a very humorous interview of Dexter Jackson by Arnold with final victory posing by Dexter for the many photographers.

This FINALS disc has been edited from 4 different cameras using the best angle and the best possible image of the bodybuilders at all times. The footage was shot from Wayne’s central camera position in the press pit and from the 3 house cameras of LIVE TECHNOLOGIES, producing the best ever and most comprehensive record of the Arnold Classic Finals.

Of very special importance were the Lifetime Achievement Award to BEN WEIDER, the special tribute to REG PARK and the introduction and presentation of all Past Winners of the Arnold Classic. 1982 Mr Olympia - THE BATTLE OF CHAMPIONS

This historic DVD is a completely different version than any previously offered. It is the hardcore bodybuilding version of the ‘82 Olympia, now on DVD.

This exciting video covering the greatest physiques in the world, brings you all the drama, blood, sweat and tension of Chris Dickerson’s epic victory in the 1982 Mr Olympia contest held in London. Shot on Super 8 sound film.

Although all 16 men are shown, this video concentrates on the top eight champions as they do battle through each of the three rounds of judging and on to the evening show and final presentation.

We take a different view point being that of combat by comparison, showing you the all important side by side judging comparisons and pose downs between these top men as they strive for victory. You can judge and compare your placings of the top men with the opinions of the official judges, and the comments you will hear from the audience.

However, anything can happen during the free posing round and the atmosphere was electric. Highlights for me included the immaculate and totally professional stage presentations of Chris Dickerson and Mohamed Makkawy, the best ever condition, shape and proportion of Samir, the massive and rock hard muscle of Viator, and the sheer size of Bertil Fox.

Tom Platz was huge and in fact the biggest I have ever seen him, and no professional boby builder has more stage charisma than Tom who it seems is a probable winner in the future. His massive legs are still years ahead of those to be found supporting any other body builder. For Tom’s many fans, this video has all the Platz footage, both judging and final.

For Zane’s fans he had a completely new routine which included his own unique poses he has made famous such as the vacuum and hands over head poses. He almost stole the title from Dickerson and in many people’s eyes was a winner.

Al Beckles went into this contest as one of the hot favourites and he too looked absolutely fantastic, as did Lance Dreher. Dreher had probably the biggest arms, in the famous Larry Scott posing style.

However, there can only be one winner, and CHRIS DICKERSON was a well deserving and popular winner in this his final contest. Chris was superb in all areas - symmetry, cuts, presentation, charisma, condition and muscle density. He had it all together on the day in a totally professional manner that showed class, experience and attention to fine detail. A fitting triumph to climax the competitive career of on the the world’s greatest body builders. In his victory speech Chris thanked the great Bill Pearl for all the assistance he had given him.

Part 1 (Disc 1) is 60 minutes long. It is held October 4th, 1980 at the Opera House in Sydney, Australia. This is the contest in which Arnold made his “comeback” after five years of retirement, and gained his seventh Mr. Olympia title.

Besides Arnold, the line up also included Mike Mentzer, Chris Dickerson, Frank Zane, Boyer Coe, Roy Duval, Casey Viator, Roy Callender, Ken Waller, Samir Bannout, Tom Platz, Danny Padilla, Roger Walker, etc.. Includes prejudging footage plus the show.

The most controversial Mr. Olympia of all time! Strictly a hard core contest video showing all competitors, and quite different to the DVD called “The Comeback”.

This is Digitally remastered film to DVD transfer, music added in places. Mostly live soundtrack is heard, with special comments from Wayne Gallasch who filmed this historic contest.

After Pumping Iron, my 2nd favorite bodybuilding DVD of all time also features Arnold, The Early Years of Arnold. The video is 103 minutes long in total. Apart from the 73 minutes of early contest and outdoor posing footage of Arnold and Franco, the bonus material from this collector’s DVD includes more recent out-takes, on-stage and behind the scenes video from the Arnold Classic.

Firstly we see Arnold on stage in England aged 19 on the 28th of January 1967, doing curls and then guest posing. Next aged 20 while outdoors in a garden he pumps up with DB curls before posing. This includes closeups of his amazing arms and is the earliest Arnold colour footage we know of.

In 1970 you see Arnold as he wins his final NABBA Universe in the Pro class. Also seen briefly are Draper, Zane, Columbu, Coe, Beckles and more. This is followed by brief highlights from the 1970 Mr Olympia. The Olympia footage is poorly lit but included in the DVD as it is so rare. See Joe present the trophy to Arnold at this event.

A real highlight is Arnold guest posing aged 23 in USA along with Franco posing at the same event.

1972 poolside on the Gold Coast in sunny Australia, Arnold and Franco pump and pose both individually and duo in a superb in-depth segment including more great closeups of Arnold’s huge arms. No other similar outdoor posing footage of Arnold was ever recorded in his career.

1972 was a very big year for Arnold as we see him defeat Sergio at the 72 Mr Olympia in Essen, Germany. This segment runs around 10 minutes and is the only known footage of the 1972 Mr Olympia event. Posing also by Serge Nubret, Franco Columbu and Arnold plus posedown and award for his 3rd Olympia crown.

In 1974 it was back to Australia again for more guest posing, this time at the IFBB Mr Southern Hemisphere contest, with posing also by the winner, Roger Walker, later 6th 1980 Mr Olympia.

Next we see Arnold posing at the 1975 Mr Olympia in South Africa, plus posing by Lou Ferrigno and Serge Nubret - the posedown and final award again to Arnold.

In 1980 Arnold made his comeback in Australia at the Mr Olympia contest held at the Sydney Opera House. It was to be Olympia victory # 7. See his solo posing, many comparisons, compulsory poses and more as Arnold once again stands victorious. Includes scenes of many of his closest rivals from Mentzer to Zane etc. A tour de force with Arnold, since voted the most popular bodybuilder of all time.

Repetrope has the VHS of the 2000 Teen and the Collegiate Female NPC competition. The video features these female competitors backstage posing and pumping up getting ready for the stage. This is considered one of the best videos out there, with over 2 hours long of non stop behind the scenes coverage of the competition. The video is only available at Repetrope.

In 2007 at the NPC teen nationals at age 19, Shawn placed 3rd in the light-heavyweight category. Shawn Giese started bodybuilding at a very young age.
